At the moment, the process to identify who is eligible for a badge is a manual process. At some point in the future, weāll simplify the badge system and bring it all onto [ministryoftesting.com](http://ministryoftesting.com) so you can proudly see your community star badges on your MoT profile page, alongside many other cool badges!
Plus, folks will also have the option to view the reason they earned a community star badge. Weāre trying our best to make things as transparent as possible. Think of it like us moving from black-box testing to white-box testing! š

I honestly didnāt know it was for all this š® I just thought it was based on posting here on the club š¤£
Letās see what I can tick š but some are not always that clear such as " All round big MoT supporter and amplifier" likeā¦ what does that mean? or Amplified MoT content
I was going through the list but there is to much which is ātoo broad or way to unclearā for me?

An example for Grateful for some Merchandise
> Someone who shares a selfie online with MoT swag is **expressing gratitude** , so we may award them a star, as long as we see it and it feels positive, or in line with our aspired culture. Their gratitude is appreciated by TeamMoT and it contributes to expanding the MoTaverse.
The list is forever changing and evolving. Weāre in the process of automating some aspects of it and processify-ing it more.
I personally hope, at some point soon, members can award each other stars, but youād like need to be a Professional Member and/or have a minimum number of stars already awarded.
And just like people have Github stars for projects, maybe weāll have a similar concept for MoT Profiles/Members.

Sounds cool! Maybe instead of members giving stars, they could nominate a person or something and then a MoT Member can award the star?

Another example. We often spot folks on The Club who ask a question and receive lots of replies. The original poster takes time and effort to reply to most of those replies and shares their gratitude with those community members. They have a positive demeanour and itās clear they are curious to learn more and are kind with their words. Itās highly likely theyād get a community star badge with a āGrateful for helpā reason.
Another example with the same reason. Someone expresses their gratitude for all the help theyāve received during an episode of [This Week in Testing](https://www.ministryoftesting.com/podcasts/this-week-in-testing). Or maybe they continue to post on LinkedIn how much help the community has been to them, in a particular month.

An example here would be when someone joins an MoT event (like a meetup, The Testing Planet or Software Testing Live) and shares their gratitude on a social platform, such as LinkedIn. They tend to share gratitude for the organisers, people who contributed and those supporting the event.
It might even be as simple as someone just sharing their gratitude for participating in a discussion, in whatever format that might be.
Thereās just a brilliant bunch of people out there who arenāt taking things for granted and they spot real effort when it comes to putting things on so folks can easily participate in a way that works well for them.

I can think of many times when someone in the community has shared hardship and challenges. And the community rallies around that person to help them, to let them know they are there for them. This could happen on The Club, MoT Slack, LinkedIn, at any event including TestBash and more.
We spot when that person shares their gratitude for the kind support theyāve received, typically during difficult times.

They are always changing though, almost daily, at least weekly. Especially as now they are built into our platform.
Some are automated. Some are manual. Some we create as we go.

As well as Rosieās suggestions, you could also have a look at the new [Community Stars page](https://www.ministryoftesting.com/community-stars).
Select a profile picture, and youāll start to get a sense of how folks are earning stars. For example:
1. Visit [Community Stars | Ministry of Testing](https://www.ministryoftesting.com/community-stars)
2. Select āAndres Gomez Ruizā [A global community of practice for software testing and QA | Ministry of Testing](https://www.ministryoftesting.com/community-stars/andres_gr-may-2025)
3. See that they have āContributed to an MoT Trends articleā and thereās a link to ā12 things we learned when we questioned the existence of test case managementā
Itās also worth noting that community stars are achieved way beyond The Club, so there isnāt a specific Club category to do things in.

As of now i got to know what that person did to get this. Also in some i can see what they contributed
But how can i do the same whats the guidance to publish an article / do a certification
Suggestion - Have a **how to** page
How to do X on MOT ?
and give a common link so people can go and do stuff

Iāll take some time in a bit to think about this - so many ways to earn stars!!! - but I was curious. Is it fine if I add Contributor to Ministry of Testing on my LinkedIn? I donāt need to earn a star for it, but I was curious if it was fine if I did? Iāve been wanting to, but wanted to check.
