What's your origin story?

I can relate. I was a programmer in the 1990s. My first programming job was with a dairy (yes, even cows needed computers back then ) We used COBOL. Our accounting department had an on-going issue with misapplied customer payments. It took them weeks (and sometimes months) to catch the error and fix.
