ahhh, gotcha. Today’s was a fun one, Much nicer than having to hold range maps in my head while I invert them for the seeds pt 2. You’re smashing it though.
Corrected code when checking the number of each distinct card in the hand.

For the jokers, I then counted the number of jokers, then checked the number of each distinct card (without the jokers) and added the joker count to the highest number of distinct cards.

Welcome Neil Studd (@neil ) to the leaderboard.
If you order based on points (where you get more points if you complete each challenge first) then I am still top of the leadboard (yay)

However, @pmichielsen has got the most stars so far. I have not yet managed to complete Day10, and my code is so messed up from all the refactoring that I’m definitely going to have to take a break from it for a few days (or years).

Knowing how difficult the puzzles get later in the month, I have a feeling Day 10 won’t be the first day I fail to complete.
Thank you @lgibbs for starting this thread and adding me to the leaderboard.
It has been super fun and learnt different coding techniques, identified a few more techniques that I need to try out/get right. Yes, I went off on a tangent on task and parallelism.
Definitely a test of my English comprehension and thinking outside of the box. I spent a lot of time saying to myself, “What does even mean?”. Haha.
I won’t be able to catch up due to having had annual leave but I intend to carry on.
I’m also going to look back some of the code and see if I can use other ways to make it more efficient / compact yet remain human readable.
Thanks again!
I am so glad you decided to get involved in this challenge. These challenges are so tough, and the difficulty really ramps up after day 10.
I was visiting family from Day 20 so stopped after that - but plan to find some time this year to get the remaining days completed. I got more stars than 2022 so am pleased with that.
These questions are very wordy, and some days I spent more time trying to understand the question than actually completing it. Easy to miss out important details and get the wrong answer. Your definitely not the only one asking what the question actually meant.
Here is the final leaderboard, ordered based on stars. Well done @pmichielsen for completing so many of the challenges. I look forward to advent of code 2024.
For anyone who sees this thread, you can use the code 2557629-7358e769 to add yourself to the scoreboard. Advent of Code isn’t just for christmas or advent, you can complete the challenges any time of the year. Once on the scoreboard, you will be included on the scoreboard for all years including future years.
Well done for getting involved @lgibbs, @stwoo2019 @nigel.brookes-thomas and @pmichielsen @seasidetesting.
I’m curious about the concept so have posted this to gather thoughts and ideas:
Hi all,
I met someone at TestBash Brighton last week who said they knew me from Advent of Code. I didn’t get their name, so putting out a message on here to see if I can find who it was.
Is everyone ready for Advent of Code 2024? Only 2 1/2 months to go.
Louise
