AI and future software testing roles

Maybe this question has been asked many times in the forum, but I’m curious about the future of software testing roles with AI being in demand?

AI as a tool can assist with test case generation, Agentic agents which can help to test the product, using it to create bug reports.

I’m currently adopting AI in my testing. For example I open the product I test with ChatGPT atlas and ask it to generate test cases. For bug reporting I attached a screenshot or error and ask it to create a bug report. I also try to make sure it understands it.

I’ve also been using mcp and integrating the test cases to it and getting an ai agent to test certain test cases I can’t test manually. I’m in the middle when it comes to automation and coding knowledge. I’ve been surprised by some of the bugs it finds. Sometimes it does get it wrong and I correct it that it’s not a bug when I retest it.

It got me thinking what would be the future software testing roles? I have seen a couple of roles mentioning AI QA Engineer.

Curious, what was the job description for those roles? Would be good to check in future if haven’t done so already.

When I hear/see such a role name, what comes to mind is you’re either testing the (company’s) AI system (specifically, as opposed to testing the end to end system or other services, UI/API, etc.) or you work with AI tooling within the QA org to facilitate the (manual) testing or (test) automation. But I don’t know if those assumptions are spot on or not.

The role I saw mentioned a high ownership leadership role driving the QA strategy for their platform.

It sounds like an automation role with the design reviews, code, performance testing, then mentions about evaluating LLM and the agentic system for quality, test guard and to catch any hallucinations or bias. Lastly building data driven testing
