Do you measure/assess the maturity of test process? what tools do you use to do it?

I recently discovered a new tool (TestMètre) designed to assess the maturity of testing processes in software projects. Developed within a Tunisian company and Orange Group, this tool has enabled the company to identify significant improvement levers to better support their projects in optimizing their testing processes ensuring maximum quality.
That made me wonder about other companies’ practices.

A few years ago I worked at a start up where we measured the success of our proces by counting the number of bugs that we needed to fix. We showed this data in a line chart. If I was to analyse this data again I would do it in a different way, and wrote this about it: “The Purpose of Analysis is Insight”

There are many testing maturity models available but I’m not such a fan of them. It’s like a DORA assessment, I’m not always keen on how the points are divided.

I agree with @mikeharris about creating a baseline for how many bugs you find at what stage of your sdlc. It’s a nice metric to see over the year how many issues are found by end users over the years.
