Purpose: List specific improvements that you will drive on your team.
Introduction: In the previous exercise, we reflected on improvement ideas for our teams. In this exercise, letโs list three action items for improvement.
Activity:
What are THREE things you want to improve on your team
Share your three improvements here and we will discuss more.
I recently had a short meeting with my two QA team members (I am their lead) where I wanted to talk with them about their definition of quality. It was scheduled for 15 minutes but we talked for 30 minutes. I received good feedback and I thought the meeting was quite productive myself. I will continue to make such short meetings to discuss certain topics, like for example individual priciples of the MTP or Agile testing quadrants.
Give my members a slight push, if they think they can bring new ideas into other teams but hesitate to bring their idea up. One person can only do so much, three persons than do three times as much!
Metrics. I want to help them understand certain metrics better and how we can use them to improve our work. This is tricky because (misinterpreted) data can be easily used to blame somebody or some group. Making sure that nobody feels threatened is really important.
I want to define a career path which works for technical testers, and let those who want to follow that path run after it.
I want to spread the value we see in getting testers involved throughout the SDLC to the entire, global organisation I am part of, rather than just the local subset.
I want to identify a new target for our efforts in improving quality, to help provide direction to our efforts in the mid-term going forwards.
Conscious there is nothing scientific methody here right now. Thatโs for me to ponder.
