Root cause analysis field on bugs?

We have RCA QA fields on our tickets that are filled out after bugs are fixed. There is a drop-down with common causes and a text field for improvement ideas.
I have mixed feelings regarding this approach as the root cause can’t be with the testers. It puts the blame on us by default. Thinking about why this bug was found now and not earlier can lead you to great ideas how to improve your testing though. Focusing on solutions instead of initial mistakes also helps against blame games. In most cases prevention is more productive than why this happened.
