Accessibility Challenge: What are the accessibility rules around the world?

Title: Accessibility Rules and Guidelines in Other Countries

Time: 15-20 minutes

Purpose:

To explore how accessibility is measured and enforced around the world. Understanding the different rules and guidelines in place globally can help us design and test more inclusive websites and apps—especially for users outside our own region. Let’s club together to research a variety of countries and share what we find, so we can help each other out!

Activity:

  • Choose a country to research.
  • Look into that country’s accessibility rules, laws, or guidelines. Consider:
    • Do they follow WCAG, or have their own standards?
    • Is accessibility a legal requirement, or more of a recommendation?
    • Are there any enforcement bodies or penalties for non-compliance?
  • Write a short summary of what you found (just a few sentences) to help build a useful collection of insights from around the world.
