This is a great question, and hard to know for sure.
While I shouldn’t say never, theres definitely a few industries I’m not as keen on compared to othrs. Which may be all misinformed gut feel, and who knows may change.
Gambling
Banking
Crypto
I’ve always wondered how people who work in adult or NSFW sectors talk about their experience.
I doubt there’s a line on their CV as blunt as
I’ve thought about this topic a lot. I’ve historically worked in some industries that others wouldn’t choose to work in, so it’s less about the industry…
For me it’s about the specific organisation: Are they LGBTQIA+ friendly? Do they care about quality and testing? Do they care about MY flavour of quality and testing? Do I see growth and progression there?
There are probably companies that I get a vibe that I wouldn’t want to work for (the ones whose job adverts are all “ROCKSTARS ONLY!!!”). If I get a very hyper masculine vive from an org, I usually say no.
Its funny because a lot of the industries I know people are hesitant of are my bread and butter.
I went from a Health Insurance company that also did General insurance (eg Car, Home, Travel etc) to a Medtech startup that was using AI for diagnsosis of Cardiac Artery Disease which included submissions to FDA, TGA etc. Then I moved to my current job, working for a Goverment Lottery.
I think tbh id be open to working in most industries, its more the atmosphere of the specific company and more importantly the managing style/how my particular team is run day to day.
If I felt the company had questionable morals itd be a no from me. But that could happen equally with a company selling tshirts or pet toys as it could with things like gambling or insurance😅
