šŸ¤– Day 1: Introduce yourself and your interest in AI

Hello  ,

My name is Alin, I’m a QA engineer interested in all things related to testing in general. I believe that all new technologies and tools, that can make our life easier, should be understood and used. I think that the integrations of AI tools ,from the beginning to the end of of SDLC , will change the way we approach testing and make us better at providing quality products. No pressure

Hi everyone, I’m Sowmya, a software automation tester passionate about staying ahead of the curve in this dynamic field. I have experience in various tools like Selenium, Cypress, Rest Assured, Playwright, and Karate, and used them to automate web application testing.

With the ever-evolving technology landscape, I’m particularly intrigued by the potential of AI in software testing. I believe it holds the key to unlocking valuable insights from vast test datasets, leading to improved efficiency and enhanced software quality. This is further reinforced by our organization’s current exploration of AI for analyzing test cases and results and identifying areas for improvement.

Therefore, I’m highly motivated to learn more about AI and its applications in software testing. This knowledge not only empowers me to contribute strategically to our organization’s AI initiative, but also equips me with valuable skills to advance my career in the ever-evolving landscape of software development.

Hello everyone, my name is Conny.

I studied Computer Science, but didn’t start working in Tech right away. I took a detour and spent a few years pursuing Illustration & Comics before finding my way into Test. I even drew some things for Ministry of Testing in the past! I really like this community, even if I’m not such an active member right now. I’ve met so many lovely people, and learnt a lot, though TestBashes in particular. :yellow_heart:

I’ve been in testing for about 6 years, and the bulk of that time as a consultant. It was great to see such a wide range of projects, products, and teams in that time and be surrounded by passionate and knowledgeable colleagues. :sunflower:

Right now I’m working at JetBrains, on the AI Assistant Team.
This is the first time I’m working on a desktop product, and anything relating to ML, so I’m learning a lot every day. Which is both exciting and overwhelming, depending on when you ask me. :upside_down_face:

So my everyday involves testing AI-powered features (that aim to make coding and development activities easier/faster) but that’s a little different from leveraging AI to support testing activities - and that’s why I think this challenge sounds interesting. :yellow_heart:

Hey Folks & Peer Group,

It feels awesome to join this group of passionate folks.

Here is my quick introduction:

I am Rahul Parwal from India. I am also a software tester like a lot of you.
Love to engage in testing communities and learn from them.
Currently, working as a Specialist with ifm engineering on IoT and Industrial Automation topics.

My interest in AI:

  • I feel that our AI is certainly the next big thing (quantum leap) in the technology era. However, it’s still on the upside of the hype cycle.
  • I want to learn and organize my thoughts on how AI helps testers in a practical way.

Goal:

  • To do all the practical exercises and learn from my peers.
  • Learn the core concepts and limitations associated with AI in testing.
  • Learn to leverage AI for my software testing and day to day workflow needs.

Thanks all!

Looking forward to working with you all

Btw, I am video recoding my learning journey. Here is my Day 1 video:

Hello, my name is Lavanya. I am a Senior QA Analyst. We have started using AI based test tool for automation and that has helped me significantly in wanting to learn more about AI. What I want to learn is how to auto generate test cases by using UI when we have some of the workflows automated.

Thank you for this initiative that helps many QAs learn more about AI.

My name is Benjamin, I am Test Automation Engineer at trivago in Germany. For me, there is no question that AI is very important for all jobs and should not be faced in fear. Currently, I use AI tools in my daily work (GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, etc.) and it gives me quite a production boost, especially when writing and refactoring code.
At the same time I see the negative side of things, starting with decreasing creativity (all AI generated content looks and feels the same), hallucination, layoffs, huge environmental impact of training and using LLMs…
I want to get a better understanding on the pros and cons and how it all works in more detail. Also I am interested in the ways the AI industry will shift when they have to be profitable.

  • Introduce yourself: I’m Gareth, a Principal Test Engineer at ASOS. I work with frontend and backend technologies, working closely with teams to help them develop and enhance their own testing approaches, as well as doing some testing myself as and when required.
  • Your Interest in AI: I recently gave a talk about AI4QA as part of our own internal QA Community event, which we’ve ran 2 of now. It’s piqued my interest, both in terms of how we can use AI to further our testing, but also the ethical impacts of AI and how we as testers can be in a unique place to challenge and help shape it.
  • Your Goals: For me it’s about having a broader knowledge of how to apply AI, and the impact it can have. How can we use it? How should we use it? How shouldn’t we use it? That sort of thing.

Hey everyone,
I’m Bill - I’ve been a tester for a loooong time. I started my exploration into AI in 2014 and eventually completed an MSc in AI (2021) as part of a transition into more AI/ML engineering-focused roles. Mostly i’m focused on how we test AI Systems but also fascinated by how we can build and use AI to assist with our testing.

I’m here to contribute and support you all during this challenge so feel free to reach out and ask me questions if you want.
