🐤 Day 14: Explore your role in Responsible AI

Welcome to Day 14 of our 30 Days of TestBash! Today’s task is inspired by the talk, “Responsible AI: Opportunities and Challenges for Testers" by @billmatthews

Testers have an important role to play in building trustworthy and ethical AI systems, but navigating the challenges of Responsible AI requires an intentional mindset and approach.

Day 14 Task:

  1. Reflect on Your Role: What do you think the role of testers should be in ensuring Responsible AI?
  2. Share Your Perspective: Reply to this post and share your thoughts on how testers can contribute to Responsible AI. What mindset and approach do you think is necessary?

Bonus Step: If you’re inspired by the talk’s roadmap for testers, consider creating your own Responsible AI roadmap and share your initial thoughts.

Before using an AI-based tool, testers should understand how it works, what data it collects for training purposes, and how it generates output.
When it comes to AI, there are a few things testers should do to ensure AI is working as a responsible tool -

  1. Privacy of test data - currently, most AI-based tools keep the data for learning purposes, so testers should ensure that the AI they use does not store such data as it may be confidential. For example, Postbot is an AI-based tool in Postman that generates test cases and does not store test data; it just stores request and response structures for training purposes.

  2. Biasness in the result - The output provided by the AI tool should not be biased, so testers should check the result to ensure that it is completely unbiased.

  3. Manual review of the result: Even though results generated by AI are based on the prompts entered by testers still it is too early to completely rely on the output generated by the AI, testers should review the result manually to ensure the result is meeting expectations.
