🐤 Day 20: Apply critical thinking to your well-being

Welcome to Day 20 of our 30 Days of TestBash! Today’s task is inspired by the talk, How Applying Critical Thinking Saved My Mental Health” with Maria Antonella Scarivilli.

In her talk, @antonella shared how critical thinking helped her manage her mental health by designing experiments, using tools like mood tracking, and building a support network. Just like we apply critical thinking to testing, we can apply it to our own well-being.

Day 20 Task:

  1. Think about your well-being: Is there something in your life that you’ve been trying to understand or improve? It could be your mental health, stress levels, or perhaps your daily routine.
  2. Share your idea/approach: Reply to this post with an example of how you could apply a testing mindset or critical thinking to better understand and manage your well-being. Or perhaps you have a tool, method, or tip that’s helped you in the past that you can share instead.

Well, starting working once schooling is finished is always going to be challenging. I think everyone getting their first “real job” (flipping burgers might be exhausting but not in the same way as the first mentally challenging job) will be surprised by how hard it is to work. I see it in my children, leaving University for their first appointments. You do not know what is expected of you and overtime gets heavy. Also, getting the first managerial roles aint a walk in the park either unless you’ve got the fangs in your genes. It’s good to have people to share experiences with, a mentor might be invaluable if you find a good one. And well, after a while you get a hang of whatever. Or you find that this is not your cup of tea, and then you must do the challenging task of changing directions.
