🐤 Day 13: Share a self-awareness tip

Welcome to Day 13 of our 30 Days of TestBash! Today’s task is inspired by @pessimisttester talk, “Fostering Professional Excellence: Self-awareness as a Moral Responsibility.”

Self-awareness plays an important role in our professional growth. Whether it’s understanding our strengths and weaknesses, managing stress, or improving collaboration, being self-aware helps us become better colleagues and leaders.

Day 13 Task:

  1. Share Your Self-Awareness Tip: What’s one thing you do to stay self-aware in your work? It could be a small daily habit, a reflection technique, or something you’ve learned from experience that helps you better understand yourself and your impact on others.
  2. Post Your Tip: Reply to this post with your tip. It doesn’t have to be complicated—just something you find helpful that others might benefit from too!

And for those who’d like to dive deeper into the TestBash experience, Barry also wrote a heartfelt poem about TestBash Brighton 2024, which you can read here.

Why Take Part:

  • Inspire Others: Your self-awareness tip might be just what someone else needs to improve their own work environment.

I like to journal/pen down my thoughts whenever I feel heavy with emotions, work, and thoughts.

This helps me objectively think about the things going on in my life and plan it better.

In terms of work, I’m aware and confident about my critical thinking. It helped me to perform well as a test engineer. Some times, I’m frustrated about the work output but i constantly reminded about my thinking capability and helped to back on track.

I like to talk to my peers or colleagues to gather feedback on my work. It helps me understand my weak spots and strengths. I also ask for their opinion on how I can improve and do my work better. It helps me realizing many things about me at my workplace.

I’m trying to implement this now into my new journey as a CTO:

  1. The “Five-Minute Friday Reflection” :alarm_clock: Planning to end each week with a quick reflection asking myself:
  • What approach made me proud this week?
  • Where did I struggle, and why?
  • What could I have communicated better?

This tiny ritual should help me spot patterns in my work style and improve incrementally.
