I wrote an article for TheNewStack discussing where trace-based testing fits in the testing pyramid. It is geared to get more input from the test community, as most of the exposure to the technique has been with SRE’s / DevOps that are already familiar with distributed tracing.

Nice easy to grasp explainer that covers all the background of Complex System test, and observation efforts and then dives into the why and finally the how trace based testing works. Good work!
