My job titles:
Junior Test Engineer > Test Engineer > Senior Test Engineer

My roles (of course in addition to my job  ):
Test Lead, Scrum Master, QA Accessibility Lead

  • Junior Test Engineer
  • Test Engineer
  • Senior Test Engineer
  • Team Lead QA
  • Lead QA
  • Test Manager
  • Mobile Test Expert
  • Lead QA
  • Product Manager
  • Senior Product Manager
  • Head of Product Quality Engineering
  • Head of Software Engineering

This topic feels very relevant right now for some research we are doing, would love to see further contributions.

So far, I’ve had:
Software Test Engineer/Junior Test Consultant
Test Engineering Analyst (definitely the fanciest one, I think!)
QA Engineer

I had never heard of titles like SDET at the start of my career but it seems to be one of the most common ones I see in job searches now

  • 2016 - Quality Assurance Test Analyst
  • 2019 - Software Quality Analyst
  • 2020 - Software Quality Engineer
  • 2022 - Senior Software Quality Engineer
  • 2023 - Senior QA Engineer
  • 2024 - Integration Testing Specialist

I also had a couple of support related roles prior to getting into software testing properly. I guess they could be considered pseudo-QA roles:

  • First Line Support Analyst
  • Second Line Support Analyst
