Time: 1 hour to fill in the worksheet
Purpose: In this activity, the focus is on exploring and capturing the wide ranges of activities that a tester does and abilities that a tester has before reflecting on your own experiences of each activity and ability. Not only does this help us to understand the role of a tester and what they do, but it begins to help us to reflect on our own skill sets and identify opportunities to improve.
Introduction: We have already discussed what a tester’s activities and abilities in the classroom and captured a mind map in our class notes, which you can find here. In addition to this @danashby has shared some mindmaps of his own, which you can find here. It’s now time for you to review these and reflect upon them.
Task: Below is a link to a document that is known as an exit card:
Exit card document can be found here - Please ensure you either download a copy or make a copy of the document to save in your own private workspace.
For this activity, you will need to populate the table with abilities or activities a tester has or does in the left-hand column using the mind maps we have captured and shared. Once you have completed the list, your next task is to reflect on each entry and leave a tick in either the ‘experienced’, ‘some experience’ or ‘no experience’ column.
Once you’re done, save two copies. One for yourself and one on this thread. We will then use these to help focus the training in the upcoming months.
