Best resources for engineers new to performance testing?

Hi all,

I’m trying to create a learning plan for my team who are new to performance testing but not sure where to start in terms of resources as there’s SO much out there!

I want them learn about the fundamentals, types of perf testing, using JMeter, collecting metrics from stakeholders and SDLC

Any suggestions?

There’s a bunch on MoT that might be of interest: https://www.ministryoftesting.com/search?q=performance+testing

I found The Hitchhiking Guide To Load Testing Projects: A Fun, Step-by-Step Walk-Through Guide by Leandro Melendez very useful at explaining the full process.

I personally found JMeter had a sharp learning curve and never enjoyed using it. There are so many good performance test tools now I would probably pick based on the programming language your team has the most experience with e.g. Java = Gatling, JavaScript= k6, Python = Artillery etc.

I’ve had a look but we don’t have the pro membership, is there a way to filter down?

thanks Adam, will check this out
