Got nerves? Feeling bored? Easily distracted? What's your fidget object of choice?

In a fun moment caught by @rosie, I was curious why I was holding a pen while talking. Then I remembered I was taking notes. But, also, when I get nervous, or bored, or easily distracted, holding an object is helpful.

Coffee cups are useful because I look like I’m drinking, but mostly, I’m keeping myself centered. Sometimes, I crochet in meetings to help me stay focused. Earbud cords are great for braiding while listening. I also have a strange block that I change into different shapes.

I’m curious. To stay centered and in the moment, what’s your fidget “toy” of choice?

I have a couple…I will fidget with a ring, or with my pen (I have one that I can screw and unscrew), or a little Millennium Falcon fidget toy.

I always have a notebook and a pen/pencil close, so I can doodle

I have a few fidget toys laying around my desk - there’s one that I like to throw up and down when I need to do a bit of thinking around client escalations

I’ve never tried throwing something to help me think. I’ll have to experiment with that some time.
