For example: How to identify small things to identify some high risks, critical risks etc. Is there some kind of a case study on this?
To me it’s an intuition based process. I can’t tell you exact details, but that I try to think systems through as good as I can.
I can visualise system in my mind, see them like electronic switchboards. Flows of information and many logic operators.
Also it helps to make that into artifacts, to draw them.
Systems thinking profits from tools too.
Thanks for the reply, however are our intuitions always right? I mean, was it supported by data consistently over a period of time. I think we need a concrete example of this.
Hi @ezeetester,
I’ve been enjoying what @patrick has been sharing about systems thinking:
Plus, these helpful collections:
The Community’s Guide to Systems Thinking
Systems Thinking Books for Testing and Quality Engineering Professionals
Not always, but often enough. The thing is that it is about guidance and feedback loops.
You try something out => you let your brain process it => you make new plan => you try it out => repeat
Intuitions needs to be trained. In general aspects and on every topic. By that it gets better on every time.
Don’t forget that it is your brain, a very complex system on itself. Not classically developed program.
I’m not sure what you are asking for. My brain processes everything I feed it with. Everything I perceive.
Surely I try to give it good structured data as good as I can. But depending on the circumstance the quality of that varies.
I don’t know who you mean by “we”. I don’t as I know how it works. Do you mean especial yourself?
I think the best would be for you to have someone who shows and teaches it to you. Its very hard to teach that just by text like here.
Also this very related to the individual personality. E.g. when you have many prejudice and uncovered traumas it can be hard for someone to learn.
On way you can try it is to work with mind maps. E.g. try to make product coverage outline and think about the relations each part could have with others.
In general this is not plugin you just install and it works fully works instantly. As this is about your brain and you as person, this is a longer process of training.
The more you go in one direction; the far you go from the other direction.
I look for changes (upgrades) to the requirements and try to see what direction are we moving.
Then, I see risks in the opposite direction.
Eg. the more you go into security enhancements; the far you will ideally go from “usability” or “ease of use”.
thats a great idea
