How do you reach out to a concerned person regarding the vacancy?

I wanted to reach out to a person in Linkedin, and connect regarding the vacancy. I have been thinking on how to raise without getting disturbed for other person regarding the oppportunity.

Ex.
I came across a job opening at your company that aligns closely with my background and skills. I have 4.6 years of experience as a QA professional, with expertise in Selenium Java, API Testing, etc.

I noticed that the role is listed on your company’s LinkedIn portal, and it matches my profile quite well. I was wondering if you would be open to referring me for this opportunity?

Is that above example looks good to proceed, what would your best strategy to reach out?

This is weird af, I would change it to “Close to 5 years of experience” or “Over 4 years”.
But the dot 6 is just weird and sounds desperate.

Why don’t you simply apply for the vacancy? Waiting for a response from someone which could results into a “no, just apply through linkedIn” will only take longer.

HR will ask how do you know this person and you’ll have to respond “I just connected to pass my information” which sounds really desperate in my opinion and it will raise red flags IF you do not know the person.

I have had this exact thing done to me and to be brutally honest. I would not recommend a person who I don’t know and I don’t know anyone who would. Recommendation’s are you vouching for that person. If something goes wrong it could look bad on the person recommending.

When I apply for jobs I go through the normal application route, then message, letting them know I have applied and asking if they had any more information on the role/business they are able to share and if they have any questions for me. Connect with them and build a raptor ahead of the interview. It leaves you in a much stronger position. Not a perfect method but better than straight out asking for a recommendation without knowing them.

I’m the same as Lee. I wouldn’t recommend someone I don’t know. My guess is that you won’t get far that way. However, what you could try is reaching out to the hiring manager to learn more about the role / sell yourself directly. Don’t be vague. Be specific about why you’re interested in the role, and what makes you suitable for it, or else they’ll probably ignore you or just tell you to apply online without engaging any further.

This article isn’t exactly applicable to your situation, but there is a section where I talk about how I approached the hiring manager for the job that got me in to testing: How to Become a Software Tester Without A Computer Science Degree | Ministry of Testing

I’d very rarely be comfortable connecting someone I did not know personally with someone I did know.

There are some people online I have a lot of back and forth with over many years that I might be okay with and I’d be okay with them approaching me to see if I could give them an introduction but there is also a good chance I’d say I’m uncomfortable with that, no big deal for me.

If I do make an introduction where even if I know someone but I have not worked directly with them personally I’m going to caveat that introduction with exactly that.

The opposite is interesting, when I’m asked for my view on an individual my language tends to be very safe and neutral.

Connecting people is likely what you are looking for rather than a recommendation.
