I believe testers should be cognizant of the latest news or reports of various bugs and vulnerabilities in the tech world. This will give them more insights into covert bugs.
A tester needs to be efficient in analysing data , a quick learner ,good at reporting thins, imaginative ,able to focus ,a logical thinker ,supportive and flexible to adapt changes quickly.
Other traits I feel seem to be integral in testing are:
- Driven
- Ability to work as part of a team positively
- Not afraid to dig deeper into issues
- Quick learner
- Proficient in technology, or have a keen interest to learn
-Organised - A keen eye for detail

Some traits I feel are useful as a tester:
- Attention to detail - being able to notice details, including small ways software might break, is important for complete testing
- Technical skills - while not everyone needs to code, if you are testing software, you should be familiar with software and how it works. Technical skills can be quite broad and vary based on the domain, but to properly test, you should be familiar with how software functions so you can more easily imagine how things can go wrong
- Adaptability - software development often moves fast and requirements can change. We must be willing to drop paths which are no longer relevant to our users and focus on finding the most value. Priorities of the customer can change as we understand their needs better, and testing should adapt to those needs
