Making meetings more relaxing

Who else is playing relaxing music in the background when they are on a meeting?
I do it from my PC into my headphones so that my coworkers are not bothered.

It creates a positive baseline which let me stay in a clam mood in longer meetings.

This is my current favorit:

That’s a cool idea, @sebastian_solidwork. Nice one! Thanks for sharing.

I do similar when working at home. My noise cancelling mic on the headset is so good I have all the tunes pumping out of the smart speaker. This helps me focus a lot, especially when meetings drag on for hours. Since we have a cameras on policy for remote meetings the only hard part is not singing along or bobbing my head too much :metal:
I tend to focus on higher energy music. I’ve tried things like ambient noise and various frequencies that are supposed to help some people focus, but they just made me sleepy

Going off topic but I found this interesting. What is the policy exactly?

Essentially our head of department prefers all off-site employees to have cameras turned on during meetings. This can be terrible for me as I lack any kind of poker face. If I disagree with something but don’t want to vocalise, people still know

I quite like the policy though. I prefer seeing people to disembodied voices. Just in case you were worried its not one of those mad policies I’ve heard of where some poor people are expected to have their cameras on for their entire working day.

Ha! Yeah if it was ‘have your camera on all day’ policy, I’d be very concerned for you! I did get the idea it was meetings only type of thing.

I quite like the sound of it, personally. A lot has been lost since remote work exploded since the pandemic, and seeing people face to face is one of those things lost. On camera is not the same, but it’s better than no face at all - which I see a bit of - Very tough to read a room with no faces in. However, saying all this, I do understand there are days where you might not want / feel like being seen on camera (or in person).

Thanks for the insight

Sorry to hijack the thread anyway!

Thankfully my employer doesn’t require that but if they do I have the perfect antidote - I have lights behind my desk that shine over my shoulder so my face isn’t what people see if I turn the camera on.

Not that I intended things that way when I set them up. I wanted a good light source behind me at an angle that didn’t glare on the screen.

As far as turning the camera on, I do that as little as possible. Extreme-introvert-me has really enjoyed being able to work from home most of the time these last 3 years.
