MoT banning of links to X

At Ministry of Testing we have made the decision to ban all future links to X.

What this means for the Club is that you can’t post links to X. If we spot any they will be removed. I’m not sure if it is possible to automate the removal of links, this is something we will look into as we move forward. As you can see, we are taking a manual approach to begin. :disappointed_relieved:

At some point in the future we will go through our historical content and see what we can to remove links that already exist on MoT.

You can follow us on some other social platforms, they are listed in the footer of our website, but really we recommend you follow us on the MoTaverse, we believe this is ultimately the best place that will serve the community. We’ve invested into alot of improvements over the past year and we will continue to do so.

Here’s a piece from The Verge with details of what some subreddits are doing.

And here’s some personal thoughts of mine on the state of the current web and how I’m thinking about it.

My intention is not to be political. No politics are to be discussed here. I hope you understand.

Thanks, gave me the kick up the bum to clean up, say goodbye to X and reset my “brand” in bluesky. I am cleansed

A great decision. I fully support this!

I have a question - will you keep the option to add a link to X on our profiles?
(I don’t use it. Haven’t done for years. I am just curious)

Yes! We’re going to be removing it from profiles shortly, someone else requested this privately too.

We’re happy for people to point out any X links and we’ll work our way through removing them.

I almost never use X or any other social media, but this seems very childish and unnecessary.
