At MoT we officially quit X/Twitter and we feel it is time to properly invest in the Fediverse, it feels like it has real potential to become a part of our ongoing online and social lives. It will take a while to get it working.
However, we also have MoTodon, a shiny new Mastodon server, to cater specifically for the software testing community.
I’ll fully admit that I’m still getting my head around Mastodon. For now, I wanted to share that we’re committed to creating a long-term space here for software testing / quality engineering professionals.
We’d love for people to sign up for MoTodon, but you can also follow people from any server. And accounts on MoTodon can be moved to other servers in the future, so I’m told!
To help get this going, I’d personally love to find other software testing professionals to follow, feel free to drop your Mastodon profiles in the comments.
I’m now @jesper@space.ministryoftesting.com
Feel free to look at my profile for followers. I also have a profile on mastodon.social, where you can find me boosting generic things too.
I can recommend the web app phanpy.social, as a client. Remember to follow some hashtags and check out “local” and “federated” timelines for posts not from your followers.
I’m on Mastodon, Lisa Crispin (@lisacrispin@mastodon.social) - Mastodon, but I have pretty much quit using it because I don’t see any posts there from anyone I know. This looks helpful but - do I need to get on the MoTodon server, and if so, how?
Hi @lisa.crispin - the cool thing about the fedierse (with mastodon) is, that you can follow others on their instances and don’t need to be on their instance. So you can follow those on MoTodon with your mastodon social account and no need to register there.
Thanks @rosie and others for the MoTodon - but I am going to stick to my initially created fediverse account (besides threads, bluesky etc) and so for those who are new to fediverse the MoTodon Server could be a good start to jump into it.
