The benefits of being in a the MOTerverse

I have been asked what the benefits of being an MoT member so I can try and encourage them to get a Team account.

I know that I have learned a lot from the calls, documents and courses on the community, but I would love to hear what everyone else feels that they get as a benefit.

Wow I’ve only been a professional member for a few months and I’m wondering where do I start? :joy:

First and foremost, I reignited my club account and thought its not enough just being a member, I need to put the work in this time. The payback as a club member was a taster. I was getting great feedback from my comments, I was learning a lot from others, I was finding go to people etc. But there was such a depth of articles, videos and training that I didn’t have access to that I felt to truly expand my strengths I needed access to more.

I also wanted to get a team account, but that was hard to justify. Because the team I felt needed to buy in as much as me from the outset and at this stage I was trying to sell membership to them as well as the business and when their budgets are tight. I needed a different tactic.

So I thought I’d go for a membership for myself and then use that to influence wider adoption. I started the conversation with “If you don’t have the budget to sign off thats fine, I’ll get a membership myself. But I’d prefer to represent my company as a QA Lead rather than just myself.” Thats seemed to cut it

Since then I’ve been name checked on linkedin a few times (which got noticed), shared the TWiT episodes in my company slack that I contributed to, submitted an article, had an podcast discussion with Rosie and anything I learned I would mention in meetings here and there as ideas.
So just in the space of a few months, the business is getting clear indications my company are already getting a return on their money…but my team is also seeing this happen as I bring them things I’ve learned into team meetings to spark discussion so its beginning to peak their interest.

That visibility of return I’ve no doubt contributed to getting approval to go to TestBash. They could see their QA Lead was going to a tech conference representing the organisation.

Hope that helps :folded_hands:
