Activity 3.2 - Run a risk analysis session

Time: 3 hours: 1-2 hours to organise and prepare your team and 1 hour to run the session

Purpose: In the previous activity we identified opportunities for risk analysis, now it is time to run a risk analysis session. Running an activity for your team will give you a better understanding of the challenges and rewards of running a risk analysis session and enable you to share your understanding of risks with others.

Introduction: You have identified opportunities for risk analysis in your team. The focus now is to try and implement one of those risk analysis activities within your team.

The skills gained in this activity will be mixed. You will gain experience in influencing and coaching others in thinking about Risk and encouraging them to engage in risk analysis exercises. It will also further your skills in running risk analysis activities.

Task: Choose one of your identified activities for risk analysis and work with your team to run the risk analysis session.

Some things you will need to consider:

  1. You will need to find a suitable time to schedule your session or make your team aware that you will be running a risk analysis exercise in an already established meeting
  2. Share with others beforehand what you intend to do in your session and what your expectations are
  3. If you require any materials, make sure you have them ready for the session

As you run the session, try to capture risks identified as notes as well as other interesting or challenging discussions that occur. Be prepared to share your experience and what you identified in the next session.
