Hey peeps - I have been through the mills with SLT and Group SLT this year trying to get various l&d - yay!
so for the current offering of MoT membership template I have these wee tips/ some gap analysis for likely pushback and challenges based on the links content.
It thought it might help when building your case for approval based on actual feedback and results so far from various internal and external CTOs - and some of the things Enterprise and LCP company levels might push back on.
Every Enterprise and LCP is different so if anyone wants to offer their suggestions/used examples please add in a thread/convo (these are also things I ask when people ask me for budget or I get asked) - im doing everything I can to get people into MoT atm:
- ROI & tangible business impact > How does this directly benefit our delivery, risk posture, or customer outcomes?
- Overlap with existing learning platforms > we already have access to pluralsight, linkedIn learning, O’Reilly or internal training? etc. etc.
- Security, compliance, and data sharing > What data do you share on your MoT profile? Is it secure? Why is one of the currencies US is any data stored in US data centres?
- Time commitment & distraction risk > will this distract from delivery priorities - is it to be used in work time - is the format actually helpful for quick reference in anyway?
- Team vs. individual benefit > Is this is just for you, how does the team benefit? (this one is harder than you think!)
- Cost Justification > My Domain CTOs concern was for example : “£1,099 + VAT is not trivial. Why Unlimited over Standard?”
- If you quote this part “Upskilling: Access to cutting-edge content on automation, quality engineering, and leadership.” IMO you need to be able to give some solid examples of what cutting edge is for MoT - you can’t assume the CTO/SLT do not understand testing or next gen engineering - use your peers in the Community - ask them their thoughts
- Have a list ready of proactive questions based on the current site content!
