If you had to add one extra cool feature to the MoT platform, What would it be and how would it assist the community?

If you could think of another cool feature to add to the platform, what would it be and how do you feel it could help uplift the community?

Let’s get creative and brainstorm

To bring the old forum back with all of the old sections, not just “asking questions” anymore but more into sharing other things also. It was heaps of fun!

I’m a forum guy :man_shrugging: :stuck_out_tongue:

Great that is nice :slightly_smiling_face:

I have given quite few suggestions already in DMs

The important & interesting one I guess is the embedded immersive reader - which will allow us to listen long posts instead of reading also it will hit the accessibility score as well

Currently what’s on my mind is outreach. Outreach beyond the testing bubble and into the hearts and minds of CTOs, Engineering Managers and Software Developers. This outreach would ideally help us to develop a better understanding of our craft and create job opportunities (you need testers because…) in a way that’s trusted advice to them.

So for me, a way for this platform to amplify and uplift messaging outside of the testing bubble would be super helpful:

  • Content we can share more widely that doesn’t need an account to view
    • Previews of content (like on news websites) where someone can read the first 1/3 before logging in
    • An easy view of sharable content that doesn’t need an account to read
  • A mechanism to uplift content on socials (and uplift people directly there)
    • Reposting of people’s content. Liking & sharing it to get better reach.
    • Listing people who need a boost (they’re looking for work) so we can swarm on their content?
  • Consideration / training on how your content teaches AI algorithms
    • What do CTOs see when they ChatGPT “what is testing?” or “do I need a tester?”
    • Can we gamify the ML algorithms with content?

I’d love to see a mentorship-matching feature on the platform. Many community members look for guidance, while others want to share their expertise.
A simple system to connect mentors and mentees based on interests or skills could really uplift the community, encourage collaboration, and make learning more impactful.

I think sometimes MOT can shoot itself in the foot to balance member only and public content. For example, my organisation was really chuffed with the leading with quality conversation I was involved in and would have shared it wider in their platforms with MOT plastered all over it. But as it was locked to members, there was no point for them to do it. If they’re investing in my membership, maybe there is a middle ground somewhere.

Honestly, I still miss the old testing Twitter days, and think it would be cool to find another online space for quality and testing enthusiasts - not just people with “test” or “quality” in their job titles. We already have the MoTaverse feature to follow people; it would make sense to have a feed of short posts by members too, in my opinion. Maybe Club contributions could also be part of members’ “activity” and followers’ feeds.
