How can Labels and Components be effectively used in JIRA and TestRail? How do they integrate with Epics, and what is the best approach to resume their usage efficiently?

We use Jira, and for a while we have not been practicing using labels and components fully in tickets, just simple labels like team name maybe, I would like to go back to reintroduce using them, was wondering how do you all use it? how can it be best combined with Epics to generate reports in Jira, and how is the integration with TestRail. Cheers

Hi,
I am missing the why here and can only see that you ‘would like to’.
Labels are used if someone needs them for something to make their job more efficient (usually a PM), and the epics/components aren’t enough.
When we’ve applied labels it was always a choice of the PM who informed the others about the grouping they’d like and then others just did the labeling (sometimes).

We used to use Labels for grouping themes such as “payment processing” until about 2 weeks ago, when our contact at Accenture recommended using Components. Apparently components are easier to export out to csv reports from Jira.

How they work in relation to Epics - you may be able to configure those fields, not 100% sure- haven’t got that far yet!
