My name is Shaun Fourie. I have recently moved from South Africa to the UK to continue and grow my career in the IT industry. I have a background in Project Management, Scrum, Quality Assurance and Development, with CSM and ISTQB certifications. I am currently a Project Manager and Scrum Master sub-contracted across multiple teams, although I would love to fall back onto my Quality Assurance experience and advance my career there.
I am facing some challenges navigating the UK’s job market, and I was hoping to connect with you all to seek your advice on a few things, example refining my CV and overall online image, guidance on what is in-demand, and how to better position myself within the local IT industry.
If you have any tips, insights, or even potential opportunities that you think may be a good fit, I would greatly appreciate it. Either way, it would be a privilege to connect with you all and learn from your experience.
Yes I have read through some of the older posts re how to navigate the job market, how to create / structure your cv etc, but in all honestly after a good few months of no luck, not even an interview, I need some direct assistance if possible.
I have attached my CV below if you were interested (as two responses due to attaching file limitations. Perhaps that was intentional, I apologise if so.)
Thank you all for your time. I will see you at the next Leeds and London MoT meet-up
Hi Shaun, and welcome to the community. There are quite a few people happy to help with CVs. You can find them by their ‘open to review CVs’ status. The link is here: MoT Community Members | Ministry of Testing
You can reach out directly to some or all of them.
There are a few good chats in the club on CVs including this one:

In addition to having an impressive blend of PM, Scrum, and QA experience, you could work on different versions of your CV depending on the role you want to apply for (focus on QA for testing roles, and on leadership for Scrum/PM roles).
And do not overlook the test community for the meetups and networking opportunities the testers in the UK are usually very helpful. Start with Leeds and London MoT events.
Good luck, you’ll figure it out as you continue exploring the market!
Hi Ramanan! Thank you for the tips, I agree, I’ll look into putting enthesis on those roles. I’ve attended one MoT meet so far and I absolutely loved it, I met some very interesting and insightful people.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post and assist!
