Lesson 12 - Reflection

Title: Reflecting on this course, and how to apply it

Time: 20-45 minutes

Purpose: To reflect on what you’ve learned, and determine how you’ll apply it outside of the course

Introduction: At the end of Lesson 12, I asked you to think about ways you can apply what you’ve learned, especially at work and outside of API automation. I also challenged you to share your plans, and maybe find a learning buddy!

Activity:

  • Review (in the lesson) everything that you learned throughout the course
  • Choose a skill you learned, and determine how else you can use that skill
    • For instance, with Parameterization, I can apply that to UI automation as well as unit tests (for my developers or myself)
  • Determine how that knowledge/skill can alter your daily work outside of API automation
    • For instance, I can clean up a lot of my automated checks with parameterization, so that I have more maintainable code across the board, not just my API checks
  • Share your plan for introducing API automation at work, in as generic a way as possible (so as not to share too much about “secret sauce” of your workplace APIs)
  • Share how you want to continue learning about APIs and API automation
  • See if anyone else has similar learning goals as you, and become learning buddies!
