A question from @alexanderontest on Slido:

Did you move to management within the same organisation? Do you have any advice on how to step back from the responsibilities you had as an IC?

@alexanderontest When I was a Principal Test Automation Engineer, it was within the same organisation but during this time, I was only managing 1 direct report so I was still doing a lot of IC.

My advice would be to learn how to delegate effectively. You can start doing pairing work if you still want to do IC roles but then gradually let your direct report drive it. As managers, one of the best thing we can do now is to nurture the talents of our direct reports
