What advice can you share for someone who is struggling to build the confidence to join or initiate a collaborative testing session?

Lisi Hocke (@lisihocke) asked this important question during Ben Dowen’s (@fullsnacktester) Masterclass webinar – Teamwork Makes the Full-Stack Testing, Dream Work.

You’ve shared the option of collaborative testing to learn together and grow. Do you have advice for people struggling with building up the confidence to join or initiate such sessions?

Ben shared this handy nugget of advice:

“Whoever you feel safe with. Start there. It’s valuable to not overthink it.”

Host, Vernon Richards (@testerfromleic) also shared:

“Just help them with something first. The law of reciprocity will kick in.”

How about you, what advice can you share for someone who is struggling to build the confidence to join or initiate a collaborative testing session?

Snacks. Might not work for everyone or every team, but has worked for me

The first time I organised a group testing activity, I made sure some snacks were available. It was a conversation starter and as a result, lowered the threshold for talking and working with colleagues I wasn’t familiar with.
