Free on‑premise alternatives similar to Azure Test Plans (test management, evidence, and auditing)

Hello everyone,

I would like to start a discussion to gather experiences and recommendations about test management tools that can be deployed on‑premise and are completely free, with functionalities similar to Azure Test Plans.

I am looking for a tool that allows me to:

  • Manage test cases in a structured way

  • Handle evidence (screenshots, attachments, execution results)

  • Have traceability and auditing of changes

  • Enable reviews within the team (QA and development)

  • Manage work segmented by user or role

  • Provide a workflow as close as possible to Azure Test Plans

  • Integrate with GitLab

I have reviewed Kiwi TCMS, but I feel it does not fully meet my expectations, especially in terms of control, auditing, and collaboration.

I also came across Squash TM, which looks interesting, but I am not sure how well it performs in on‑premise environments or whether it supports:

  • Evidence management

  • Auditing

  • Collaborative review

  • User or team-based management

I would greatly appreciate if you could share:
