Thereā€™s been a lot of talk recently about the reduction of remote work, Iā€™m curious with what is actually happening today.

:star: As per usual, bonus points for any community commentary!

Currently we have to go to the office 1d/week.
Our other consultants also have to go 1-2 days a week to the office. Anything above usually gets rejected  I wouldnā€™t want to go to the office 3d/week either anymore.

It is completely office however just 1 WFH is given per month which doesnā€™t give much flexibility and so we consider our work policy as 100% office. :slightly_smiling_face:

Iā€™m fully remote and have to travel for meet-ups which happen at least once every 3 months and may or may not be in the office (which is about 1.5 hour commute). Iā€™ve been with the company for about 2.5 years and probably been to the office 10 times. Maybe even less than that.

96 days/year of remote work from within the country is possible.
Some colleagues prefer full office work though.

I only take remote roles and priorities opportunities that prioritize remote roles. I need flexibility not only in my schedule but in my location. As a mom of three young children, it was very necessary. As someone who recently supported someone in another state with an illness, it was not only necessary but crucial. I know that remote roles are harder to get and Iā€™m SO grateful to be in the position Iā€™m in today.

Currently itā€™s 1 mandatory day in the office.
With changing the company it may become 2-3, but I donā€™t want to go above 3 anymore. Better 2,5 or 2.

Company moved to remote due to pandemic in 2020ā€¦and we became more productive. So we stayed remote . I canā€™t imagine working any other way now.

Company allows for 96 days/year of remote work from within the country (48 according to the legislation for the cross-border workers)

Weā€™re work in office, though if needed, we can work remotely temporarily.

ā€œif neededā€ being things like taking care of a sick kid, needing to be home for repairs, etc.

Iā€™m fully remote. I donā€™t know if Iā€™d like going back full-time. The additional travel time and extra travel expense just arenā€™t worth it, unless I got a massive pay bump.

Today Iā€™m sitting in our wonderful office, Iā€™m the master DJ running tunes on the office wide sonoā€™s system.

Having a coke by our swimming pool as I plan my days testing with six apps on the agenda for today.

I am alone though so far today and I do miss the daily interaction levels.

Its a small crowd in our Asian office so the hybrid 2 to 3 days a week in the office can be hit and miss on whoā€™s in on any given day.

The hybrid model is encouraged a bit more these days and most people are fairly happy with it, I doubt we will go back to office only but most accept a level of value from office work alongside a level of flexibility.

One element or trend I noticed since the start of covid though is that the average team member has aged, the average level of experience has gone up and its almost like everyone is a consultant to some extent. As a SaaS company this works well and is seen as a strength but the downside is less fresh graduates bringing different perspectives to the team.

Full remote and fast tracking juniors in my own personal view is much more challenging and potentially that can impact the general profile of the team. Thatā€™s something I would flag for companies to consider carefully when they consider approach to which model works well.

Hybrid, but in reality very flexible.
We have a few days (6 a year) which are sort of mandatory to be in the the office.

In my team, a few who are local try to get in twice a week, but that is because we choose to. Most donā€™t come in except for the above days.

There are a few people in other teams who choose to come in a lot more, and a couple of of people who have jobs which can only be done in the office.

Wonderful question and a poll which I havenā€™t answered the past years

Well, I am working hybrid, but probably 95% of my time from my office at home and then once or twice every one or two months I am appearing at one of our office locations. Either for collecting some magazines or goodies (a few years back some MoT merch  ) and trying to fetch some office gossip and connecting with new coworkers. Or when I am attending further trainings and broadening my knowledge.

I am very productive at my home office setup and when I am in office I do lay remote meetings to another time, so I can concentrate connecting and communicate with people offline.

Iā€™m 100% remote, or you could say 99.9%. Iā€™ve been into the office a small handful of times over the last 3 and a half years. But then, Iā€™m based in the East Midlands in England, UK, and the office is in Berlin Germany.

OK there is a London Office now, but Iā€™ve yet to visit. I donā€™t goto London often, it takes longer and is more expensive then going to Germanyā€¦ OK that is an exaggeration, but not by much.

What XD thatā€™s still insane! Itā€™s funny that traveling to another country ā€œoverseasā€ is cheaper then traveling to another place in your country

OK this isnā€™t a totally fair equivalency, because there are other costs with flying, and once you get to Berlin airport you need to get to the office, and that is extra cost on local trains.

But cheapest return from East Midlands Airport is like Ā£29 and to London Ā£57, going and returning the same days. Yes, it isnā€™t apples to apples and flying would end up costing more. But itā€™s still mad.

Notice, that is London at useless times - if you want to arrive for 9am itā€™s gonna be way more.

It is hard to believe some times with some peoples reaction in going into the office - that prior to 2020 - in my experience, it was always 5 days in the office, with the occasional WFH day - Thankfully, we are classed as ā€˜hybridā€™ but nothing is enforced - we tend to go in 1 (sometimes 2) days a week and its actually great to see people - albeit, my productivity levels are lower when I am in the office (because I talk to much lol)
