When today is done, I will have survived three days of planning sessions with the whole department. Very energy draining, but a worthwhile experience
After a hiatus of 1/2 a year, I had daily driving sessions with my partner’s son, in preparation for his driving test next month. He has come on leaps and bounds in the last few days, taking on board the things I say and suggest. As well as a him learning to drive, it definitely is also an exercise in honing my teaching skills
I finally finished the first phase of work on my new home office! I’m converting an old workshop in the garden, to make it into a space where I can work and record podcasts & conference talks. I tweeted some pictures - I still have to add some finishing touches, including art and soundproofing!
I accepted an exciting new job offer! It’s still sort-of secret as it doesn’t start until late July, but people in my current company have already started sharing the news without checking if I mind, so I may as well let you know as well Stay tuned for more information, I guarantee you’ve heard of the company…

I also discussed our automation and CI / CD strategy with colleagues at work. Nothing like being able to discuss that to make you realise how far you’ve come in your automation journey!
Started prepping for the next Software Testing Bootcamp, students now get 1 year MoT Pro from the start so updating the course work with more of their great content.
Drafted a company accessibility statement to start the discussion
Helped three people with getting started with accessibility testing
Attended Diversity Network’s Accessibility Forum, summarising the talks for the rest of the company
Personal
Having breakfast and dinner on the patio in the sunshine lifts me each day
Now all episodes of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier are available I can watch them this weekend (no spoilers please)
My previous role had moved me away from the day-to-day test execution and more to a pure test planning/architect role. My new role mixes the two much better as well as being more positioned for the cloud
We have a new intern who is with us on a program for people who are under-represented in STEM fields. I’ve been working pretty closely with her online, and she has been an excellent addition to our team. Our CEO sent out a link to an article where she was interviewed about the program, and she said that because some women at the company have taken her under their wing, she now has confidence that she has a place in the tech world!
