Would you be up for a Monthly Racket Club?

Created my first volley: What do people assume you do as a tester? | Racket

Here’s a (very) short response to the volley:

@callum recently joined Racket: @cakehurstryan | Racket

Brilliant news!

I recommend following his profile so he can Racket-share a whole tonne of useful stuff – and also chat with those who are up for a Racket chat.

All racket users just received an email

  • I’ll cut right to it: the Racket iOS app is seeing better retention, wider diversity of content, and faster growth than Racket for Web ever did. We’ve made the difficult decision to shut down much of the Racket web experience on January 20, 2022 so we can focus our attention and resources on Racket Mobile.

So. In 30 days, on January 18, we’re going to shut down most of Racket Web. Here’s what’s going away:

  • Web recording studio
  • Content feeds
  • Volleys
  • AMAs
  • Audio DMs
  • Queue

In other words, the creation of Rackets will only be possible on iOS, in the new 99-second format. Rackets both old and new will be hosted on the web, where anyone with the link can get to them. User profiles will continue to exist on the web as well, and will feature all of your Rackets as always.

RIP :frowning:

Dropping the 9 minute format plays into the zeitgeist around memories and this whole “fleets” thing in an effort to create “engagement” with audiences. When a platform moves in a direction away from the thing you enjoy most about it, you probably were just a mouse, in a large lab experiment. #DouglasAdams

The beta version of Racket for Web was great whilst it lasted. Loved how it got the community to connect with each other in a way that I’d never heard (seen) before.

I enjoyed reflecting on it via this Twitter thread started by @neil.

I wasn’t too active on the Racket, but I did like the mini-podcast format, this iOS shift is sad news for me.
